Two Films, One Production Company, Two Student Academy Award Nominations

Northlight has had a pretty good week.  Both Simorgh and Spiritus were named Semifinalists in the 42nd Annual Student Academy Awards.  In a record year, over 1,600 films were submitted to the Student Academy Awards.  From those 1,600, the Academy chose 80 films to advance in all categories. Simorgh is a semifinalist in the Animation Category, while Spiritus is a semifinalist in the Documentary Category.

This is the second Student Academy Award semifinal for lead animator Meghdad Asadi.  His film Beyond The Spheres was a finalist and nominee in the Alt. Category for the 40th Student Academy Awards.  While we are hoping for more, it is a great honor and distinction for both films to being advanced to the semifinal round.

Simorgh at San Francisco International Film Festival

Simorgh has been accepted as an official entry into the San Francisco International Film Festival.  With this recent addition the count grows to 30 festivals and awards Simorgh has received.

GRE: WHY ROCHESTER WINS GOLDEN PIXIE

The animation we did last year for Greater Rochester Enterprise has won a golden pixie award.  We are excited to have our animation side get recognized just like the live action part of our team.  Animation is a new and exciting way to market products and customers and can describe things in a different manner than live action.
